In Singapore, embalming does not occur on the baby and we do not recommend embalm on the baby as they are very fragile and there will be no funeral conducted for the baby. When a baby is less than the age of 28 weeks, Birth Certification has yet to be obtained, a memo will be issued by the doctor stating the number of weeks the baby is born and there will be a note instructing that the baby may be cremated.
During the event when the baby figures have already formed, sending off with a coffin is definitely encouraged, if the baby has yet to form, the baby could be cremated either in a box or coffin and the final decision will be decided and made by the parents.
When the cremation is done the baby’s ashes can be obtained depending on the cremation timing if it’s in the evening the act of obtaining baby ashes will be the next day as the ashes need time to cool down. Upon obtaining the baby ashes you will have to decide where is the final resting place for the baby which is either sea burial or placing the ashes at the columbarium in Singapore.
